Deir al-Qamar
Deir al-Qamar is a town in the Chouf mountains of Lebanon, south-east of Beirut. It was the seat of the Ma'n and Shihab emirs of Mount Lebanon until Bashir II moved his court to nearby Beiteddine, and it preserves the palace of Fakhr al-Din II. Its Druze and Christian population suffered a massacre in the civil war of 1860, and many of its old stone houses and palaces survive.
