Eastern Turkic Khaganate

Also known as Eastern Khaganate

The Eastern Turkic Khaganate was the eastern half of the Gokturk realm after it split into eastern and western branches in the late sixth century. Based in Mongolia, it was a major power on China's northern frontier until the Tang Dynasty under Emperor Taizong defeated it in 630, although it was later revived as the Second Turkic Khaganate.
