Eastphalia
Eastphalia (Ostfalen) was the eastern division of Old Saxony, between the Weser–Leine region and the Elbe and Saale, around modern Brunswick, Hildesheim and Magdeburg. With Westphalia and Angria it made up the land of the Saxons conquered by Charlemagne. The name survives as a historical and dialect region of eastern Lower Saxony and western Saxony-Anhalt.
