El-Lahun

Also known as Kahun

El-Lahun is an archaeological site at the entrance to the Faiyum in Egypt, where Senusret II built his pyramid. Nearby lay Kahun, the planned town for the officials and workers of his pyramid cult, excavated by Flinders Petrie in 1889. Its papyri on medicine, mathematics, veterinary care and administration, and the jewellery of Princess Sithathoriunet, are major finds of the Middle Kingdom.
