Engke Temür

d. c. 1405 · 14th century

Engke Temür was a Chagatayid prince of Kara Del, the Mongol principality centred on Hami in the eastern Tarim region. In 1404 the Ming Empire recognised him as Prince of Zhongshun, and soon afterwards it set up the Hami Guard, making the oasis a Ming frontier client on the route to Central Asia.
