Also known as Kumul, Qumul

Hami, or Kumul, is an oasis city in eastern Xinjiang, China, at the eastern end of the Tarim Basin routes and the gateway from Gansu. After the Yuan dynasty it was ruled by Chagatayid princes, then by the Kumul Khanate under Qing protection until 1930. It is famous for its sweet Hami melons.
