First Peace of Thorn

1411 · 15th century · Also known as Peace of Toruń (1411), First Treaty of Thorn · Part of the Polish–Lithuanian–Teutonic War

The First Peace of Thorn was signed at Toruń on 1 February 1411 between the Teutonic Order and the allied Kingdom of Poland and Grand Duchy of Lithuania, ending the war in which the Order was defeated at Grunwald. The Order lost little land beyond Samogitia, ceded for the lifetimes of Władysław II Jagiełło and Vytautas, but had to pay a heavy indemnity that strained its finances.
