Władysław II Jagiełło

Also known as Jogaila

Władysław II Jagiełło, known in Lithuanian as Jogaila, was Grand Duke of Lithuania who became King of Poland after marrying Queen Jadwiga under the Union of Krewo of 1385. He founded the Jagiellonian dynasty and led the joint Polish-Lithuanian victory over the Teutonic Order at Grunwald in 1410. Accounts of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth treat his union of the two realms as the starting point of the Commonwealth.
