Ganesha

Also known as Ganapati, Vinayaka

Ganesha is an elephant-headed Hindu god, son of Shiva and Parvati, worshipped as the remover of obstacles and the patron of beginnings, learning and the arts. He is invoked at the start of rituals, journeys and undertakings, and is honoured across India and in Buddhist and Jain traditions. His annual festival, Ganesh Chaturthi, is especially popular in Maharashtra.
