George William, Duke of Legnica

1660–1675 · 17th century

George William, Duke of Legnica, Brzeg and Wołów, was the last male member of the Silesian Piasts, the branch of Poland's first royal dynasty that had ruled Silesian duchies since the Middle Ages. He came of age and took power in 1675 but died the same year aged fifteen, and his duchies passed to the Habsburgs as kings of Bohemia.
