Brzeg
Brzeg is a town on the Oder in the Opole Voivodeship of southern Poland. From 1311 it was the capital of the Duchy of Brzeg, ruled by Silesian Piasts who rebuilt its castle in Renaissance style, earning it the name of the Silesian Wawel. After the last Piast died in 1675 it passed to the Habsburgs and in 1742 to Prussia, remaining German as Brieg until 1945.
