Person
Gislebert of Mons
Gislebert of Mons was a cleric and chancellor of Count Baldwin V of Hainaut. His Latin Chronicle of Hainaut, covering the county's history to 1195, gives a detailed first-hand account of the counts' politics, marriages and diplomacy, of feudal ties in the Low Countries and of Baldwin's dealings with the emperor and the French king. It is one of the best sources for the twelfth-century Low Countries.
