Great Syrian Revolt
The Great Syrian Revolt was a rising against French Mandate rule in Syria and Lebanon from 1925 to 1927. It began in the Jabal al-Druze under Sultan al-Atrash and spread to Damascus and other regions, where nationalists joined it. French forces bombarded Damascus in October 1925 and eventually crushed the revolt, but it shaped Syrian nationalism and led France to allow a Syrian constituent assembly.
