Grebo people
The Grebo are a Kru-speaking people of south-eastern Liberia and neighbouring south-western Côte d'Ivoire, living around Cape Palmas, along the coast and in the Cavalla River valley. Many Grebo worked as sailors and labourers on European ships. They clashed repeatedly with the Americo-Liberian settlers of Maryland and Liberia over land and trade, notably in the war of 1856–1857 and in later risings in 1875 and 1910.
