Greco-Bactrian Kingdom
The Greco-Bactrian Kingdom was a Hellenistic state in Bactria, in present-day Afghanistan and Central Asia, founded when Greek governors broke away from the Seleucid Empire in the third century BCE. It became a meeting point of Greek, Iranian and Indian cultures. Its secession illustrates the fragmentation of the Seleucid Empire's eastern provinces and the spread of Greek culture far into Asia.
