Guadalajara (Spain)

Guadalajara is a city in central Spain, capital of the province of the same name in Castilla–La Mancha, on the Henares river north-east of Madrid. Its name comes from the Arabic for 'valley of stones', from its time as a Muslim frontier town before Alfonso VI of Castile took it around 1085. The province covers part of the ancient land of the Celtiberians.
