Cuenca, Spain
Cuenca is a city in Castilla–La Mancha, central Spain, capital of the province of the same name, built on a rocky ridge between the gorges of the Júcar and Huécar rivers. Taken from the Muslims by Alfonso VIII of Castile in 1177, it became a bishopric with one of Spain's earliest Gothic cathedrals. Its 'hanging houses' above the gorge are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
