Güstrow

Güstrow is a town in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in north-eastern Germany, south of Rostock. Founded under German law in the 13th century, it became a seat of the lords of Werle and later the residence of the dukes of Mecklenburg-Güstrow, whose Renaissance castle still dominates the town. It is also known for its cathedral and for the sculptor Ernst Barlach, who worked there.
