Haffon
Haffon, also written Huffon, was the last independent king of Whydah, or Hueda, on the coast of present-day Benin, reigning from 1708. His kingdom prospered from the Atlantic slave trade through its port, where several European companies kept forts. In 1727 King Agaja of Dahomey invaded and destroyed his capital, Savi, and Haffon fled westwards; his attempts to recover his kingdom with the help of exiles and allies failed.
