Person
Agaja
Agaja was a king of Dahomey in the early eighteenth century who expanded his kingdom towards the coast, conquering Allada and Whydah. His conquests disrupted the Atlantic slave trade network managed by coastal tributaries of the Oyo Empire. In response Oyo launched repeated cavalry invasions and eventually forced Dahomey to pay tribute.
