Hanren
Hanren was the term used under the Yuan Dynasty for the inhabitants of northern China, including Han Chinese and others who had lived under the Jin. They formed the third tier of the Yuan four-class hierarchy, below the Mongols and Semu but above the southern Chinese, or Nanren. This ranking shaped access to office and legal status in Yuan governance.
