Honiara

Honiara is the capital of the Solomon Islands, on the north coast of Guadalcanal. It grew from the base built by American forces during the Guadalcanal campaign of 1942–1943 and replaced Tulagi as the capital of the British Solomon Islands Protectorate after the Second World War, remaining capital at independence in 1978.
