Hyūga Province

Hyūga Province was an old province on the east coast of Kyushu, Japan, corresponding roughly to modern Miyazaki Prefecture. In the 16th century it was contested between the Itō clan, the Ōtomo and the Shimazu, who won it after defeating the Ōtomo at Mimikawa in 1578. Under the Tokugawa it was divided among several small domains, with part held by Satsuma.
