Igihalkid dynasty
The Igihalkid dynasty ruled Elam from about 1400 to 1210 BCE, opening the Middle Elamite period. Named after its founder Igi-halki, it consolidated the kingdom of Susa and Anshan, used the Elamite language in royal inscriptions and married into the Kassite royal house of Babylon. Its best-known king, Untash-Napirisha, built the religious city of Dur-Untash with the ziggurat of Chogha Zanbil. It was followed by the Shutrukid dynasty.
