Ilocos

Also known as Ilocos Region

Ilocos is a region of north-western Luzon in the Philippines, a narrow plain between the Cordillera and the South China Sea, home of the Ilocano people. Its chief town under Spanish rule was Vigan. It was the scene of the revolts of Diego Silang and Gabriela Silang in 1762–1763 and of several later risings against Spanish taxes and monopolies.
