Ímar

d. 873 · 9th century

Ímar was a Viking king of Dublin who appears in the Irish annals from 857, often acting with Amlaíb Conung. Together they took Dumbarton Rock in 870, and at his death in 873 he was called king of the Norsemen of all Ireland and Britain. His descendants, the Uí Ímair, ruled Dublin and at times York for two centuries; he is often identified with Ivar the Boneless.
