Imbokodvo National Movement

1964 · 20th century

The Imbokodvo National Movement was a political party founded in 1964 to represent King Sobhuza II and Swazi traditional authority in the elections that preceded independence. It won every seat in the elections of 1964 and 1967 and governed Swaziland after independence in 1968. After an opposition party won seats in 1972, the king suspended the constitution in 1973 and banned political parties.
