Imbros

Also known as Gökçeada

Imbros (Turkish: Gökçeada) is an island in the northern Aegean Sea near the entrance to the Dardanelles, now part of Turkey. Held in antiquity mostly by Athens and later by Byzantium, the Gattilusi lords of Lesbos and Ainos, and from the 15th century the Ottomans, it had a largely Greek population. The Treaty of Lausanne confirmed it as Turkish in 1923.
