Ishpabara

fl. 708–702 BCE · 8th century BCE

Ishpabara was a king of Ellipi in the central Zagros in the late 8th century BCE, son of Dalta. When his father died in 708 BCE he fought his brother Nibe for the throne and was installed by Sargon II's Assyrian troops, while Nibe's Elamite allies were driven off. He later turned against Assyria, and in 702 BCE Sennacherib sacked his royal city, Marubishtu, and annexed part of his kingdom.
