Ishme-Dagan I

Ishme-Dagan I was the elder son of Shamshi-Adad I, the Amorite ruler of the Kingdom of Upper Mesopotamia, in the 18th century BCE. His father installed him as king at Ekallatum on the Tigris while his brother Yasmah-Addu ruled at Mari. After Shamshi-Adad's death the realm broke apart, and Ishme-Dagan held only Ekallatum and Assur while Babylon under Hammurabi and Eshnunna competed for the region.
