Yasmah-Addu

18th century BCE · 18th century BCE

Yasmah-Addu was the younger son of Shamshi-Adad I, ruler of Upper Mesopotamia, who installed him as king of Mari on the middle Euphrates. Letters found at Mari show his father rebuking him for idleness while praising his elder brother Ishme-Dagan at Ekallatum. He married a daughter of Ishhi-Addu of Qatna, and after Shamshi-Adad's death he lost Mari to Zimri-Lim, heir of the old royal line.
