Izirtu

Also known as Zirta

Izirtu, also written Zirta, was the capital of the kingdom of Mannaea in north-western Iran, named in Assyrian royal inscriptions of the 9th to 7th centuries BCE, which record Assyrian armies attacking it. Its location has not been securely identified; proposals include the area of Saqqez and the site of Qalaichi near Bukan.
