Jaghbub

Also known as Al Jaghbub

Jaghbub is an oasis in eastern Libya near the Egyptian border. In 1856 the Senussi order moved its headquarters there, and its founder Muhammad ibn Ali al-Senussi was buried in its mosque. The oasis was transferred from Egypt to Italian Libya in 1925 and was besieged during the Second World War.
