Jalal-Abad
Jalal-Abad is a city in southern Kyrgyzstan, on the edge of the Fergana Valley near the Uzbek border, and the capital of Jalal-Abad Region. Known for its mineral springs, it is with Osh one of the main centres of the south, where Kyrgyz and Uzbek communities live side by side. It was a stronghold of President Kurmanbek Bakiyev and saw unrest during the ethnic violence of 2010.
