Jalali calendar
The Jalali calendar is a solar calendar introduced in the late eleventh century under the Seljuk sultan Malik Shah, with the participation of the mathematician Omar Khayyam. It was more accurate than the contemporary Julian calendar. It is counted among the scientific achievements of the Seljuk Empire, and the modern Iranian calendar derives from it.
