Person
James Ensor
James Ensor was a Belgian painter and printmaker from Ostend, a forerunner of expressionism. He was a member of the avant-garde group Les XX, and his works, filled with masks, skeletons and crowds, mocked bourgeois society. His best-known painting, "Christ's Entry into Brussels in 1889", completed in 1888, is now in the J. Paul Getty Museum. He was made a baron in 1929.
