Jeddah
Jeddah is a port city on the Red Sea coast of the Hejaz in Saudi Arabia. Made the port of Mecca by the caliph Uthman in the 7th century, it became the main gateway for pilgrims arriving by sea and a centre of Red Sea trade. Ibn Saud took it in 1925, and it served as Saudi Arabia's diplomatic capital and remains its chief commercial city.
