Jérémie

Jérémie is a port town on the northern coast of the south-western peninsula of Haiti, capital of the Grand'Anse department. In the colony of Saint-Domingue it was a coffee-growing district, and in September 1793 British troops from Jamaica landed there at the invitation of local planters, beginning the British occupation. It was the birthplace of General Thomas-Alexandre Dumas.
