Jiaozhi Province
Jiaozhi Province was the Ming Chinese province created in northern Vietnam after the Yongle Emperor's armies overthrew the Hồ dynasty in 1407, reviving an old Han-era name. Ming rule brought heavy taxation and efforts at cultural assimilation and provoked repeated revolts. The Lam Sơn uprising led by Lê Lợi forced the Ming to withdraw in 1427, restoring Vietnamese independence.
