Joanna, Duchess of Brabant

1322–1406 · 14th century

Joanna was Duchess of Brabant and Limburg from 1355 until her death in 1406. With her husband Wenceslaus of Luxembourg she swore the Joyous Entry charter in 1356 to secure recognition by the estates of Brabant. Childless, she arranged the succession of the Burgundian house, and the duchy passed to her great-nephew Antoine of Burgundy.
