Johor Bahru

Also known as Tanjung Puteri

Johor Bahru is the capital of the Malaysian state of Johor, at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula across the strait from Singapore. Founded in 1855 as Tanjung Puteri by the Temenggong Daeng Ibrahim, it was renamed and made the capital by his son Abu Bakar in the 1860s. A causeway opened in 1924 links it to Singapore.
