Temenggong Daeng Ibrahim
Daeng Ibrahim was the temenggong of Johor from 1841 to 1862 and the son of Temenggong Abdul Rahman. Enriched by Singapore's trade and by gambier and pepper planting by Chinese settlers in Johor, he became the real power in the state, and in 1855 Sultan Ali ceded him the government of Johor in a treaty arranged by the British. He founded Tanjung Puteri, later Johor Bahru, and was the father of Abu Bakar.
