Jönggen Khatun
Jönggen Khatun, known in Chinese sources as Sanniangzi, was a wife of the Tümed ruler Altan Khan. After his death in 1582 she married his successors in turn and became the real power among the Tümed, upholding the peace and frontier trade with the Ming that Altan Khan had agreed in 1571. The Ming court honoured her with the title Zhongshun furen, 'loyal and obedient lady'.
