Julius von Pflug

1499–1564 · 16th century

Julius von Pflug was a German humanist and Catholic theologian who sought reconciliation with the Lutherans and helped draft the Augsburg Interim of 1548. Elected bishop of Naumburg in 1541, he was kept out by the Lutheran Nicholas of Amsdorf until 1547. As the last Catholic bishop of Naumburg, his death in 1564 left the see to Saxon administrators.
