Kankuamo people
The Kankuamo are an Indigenous people of the south-eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in northern Colombia, one of the four peoples who regard themselves as heirs of the Tairona. They largely lost their language and customs under colonial and later pressure, but since the 1990s they have revived their identity and won recognition of a reservation near Valledupar.
