Karesi Bey
Karesi Bey was a Turkmen leader who around the end of the thirteenth century took the Byzantine region of Mysia, with Balıkesir and Pergamon, founding the beylik of Karesi. After his death his sons Demirhan and Yakhshi divided the lands and quarrelled, and the Ottomans annexed the beylik in the 1340s, gaining the soldiers and ships to cross into Europe.
