Turkmen
The Turkmen, or Turkoman, are Oghuz Turkic peoples historically associated with pastoral nomadism in Central Asia, Iran and Anatolia. Turkmen tribal groups contributed to the forces of many states, including the early Ottoman beyliks, and the Turkmen confederations of the Qara Qoyunlu and Aq Qoyunlu ruled western Iran in the fifteenth century. The Timurid and Safavid empires both had to contend with Turkmen tribal power.
