Trabzon
Trabzon, historically Trebizond, is a port on the Black Sea coast of north-eastern Turkey. Founded as the Greek colony of Trapezus, it was the capital of the Empire of Trebizond from 1204 until the Ottoman conquest of 1461, and a major outlet for the caravan trade with Persia. It remained an important Ottoman port and provincial centre.
