Kasimov

Also known as Gorodets Meshchersky

Kasimov is a town on the Oka river in Ryazan Oblast, Russia. Originally called Gorodets Meshchersky, it was granted in 1452 by Grand Prince Vasily II of Moscow to the Tatar prince Qasim, son of Ulugh Muhammad, and became the seat of the Qasim Khanate, a Muscovite vassal ruled by Chinggisid princes until 1681. A minaret and the mausoleum of Shah Ali Khan survive from that era.
