Kayal
Kayal was a medieval port of the Pandya kingdom on the Gulf of Mannar coast of Tamil Nadu, India, near the mouth of the Tamraparni river and the modern town of Kayalpattinam. Marco Polo and the Persian historian Wassaf describe it as a busy harbour where Arab and Persian merchants traded and where horses were landed for the Pandya kings. It also served the pearl fisheries of the gulf.
